Design process breakdown

So what does a designer actually do? Let’s break it down. We understand that starting a remodel or new interior design project can be overwhelming, but we are here to assist you every step of the way. And please, feel free to ask as many questions as necessary.

Initial Consultation

This is our meet and greet. We can get to know each other, your vision, and generally decide if we will make a good team. This can be done in your home so that we might be able to walk through your space and toss ideas around, or it can be done off site over coffee if your home is not yet under construction. You can ask any and all questions, we can talk budget, discuss timeline and next steps. If we both decide that this is a good fit, we will sign a contract.

Brainstorming

This is where the fun really begins! We will create a Pinterest board for your project where you can post any and all inspiration. We will share links and photos back and forth and begin to hone in on your aesthetic. This is a good time to begin choosing a contractor for your project so that we can get on their schedule. We will have recommendations, but are willing to work with someone of your choosing if you already have a contractor chosen.

Drafting

If your project is going to entail the reconfiguration of walls and windows, or the addition or subtraction of rooms, we will draft your plans and present you with both 2D floor plans and a 3D model. Even if the project does not include any major construction, floor plans are necessary for space planning and understanding the flow of your design. This is where your project really begins to come to life.

Finishes/Build Selection

As we hone in on the end of your project we will be making a lot of decisions. We can order samples for you to touch and look at, visit showrooms, and begin ordering fixtures and finishes.

Permitting

If your project entails the addition of windows, plumbing, expanding the home’s footprint, or any number of other design elements, we may find ourselves needing to apply for a permit through your local jurisdiction. We have a lot of experience in this field and can help with this additional service if you so prefer.

Installation

We are here for you through the very end of your project. We will ensure that all of your orders are delivered without blemishes and take care of any bumps along the way. We work closely with the contractor and any subcontractors to make sure that your design is crafted in exactly the way you dreamt it would be. Furthermore, if there are any malfunctions in your warrantied fixtures and finishes in the coming years, we will work as the liaison between you and the manufacturer to ensure it is fixed.
